PhD position

Dear colleagues,

due to some leftover funding being available at our University, I have an opening for a PhD position in my “group” (it’s just me for now), and a great project: to work on phylogeography and population structure of Apodemus flavicolis and sylvaticus (yellow-necked and wood mice) using high-throughput genotyping, in collaboration with Dr Karol Zub in the Mammal Research Institute in Bia?owie?a, Poland.

This is a fully-funded 3-year PhD project with extra money for research and is co-supervised by Dr Dougie Clarke and embedded in the Evolutionary Genetics Research Group here at Huddersfield. The funding is only available to EU students.

I would be very grateful if you could spread the news far and wide, as there is not much time left: deadline is July 10th.

All the information is here:
The official advert by the University is here:

Thanks a lot!

Lab meeting TOMORROW June 2nd, 11:30 am, Common Room

Dear all,

Please remember the Mol Ecol lab meeting tomorrow Tuesday 2nd June at 11:30 am in the Common Room, D floor, Alfred Denny Building. Takeshi Kawakami will give a talk about “Recombination landscape and genomic landscape of differentiation in Ficedula flycatchers”. Taki is a visiting researcher from Uppsala University, Sweden, and is working with Roger Butlin. He will be at APS for 2 years to work on sex chromosome evolution in Australian morabine grasshoppers.

All the best
