RTP – Advanced Statistics – Message from Andy Beckerman

The Advanced Statistics course starts on Monday, 18th January.  This is for 1st year PhD students and 4th year Masters students.

1st year PhD students, please ensure that you have reviewed any past courses you have taken.  You should know what, and how to do, a t-test, regression and a 1-way ANOVA before this course.
Post-docs are also welcome to come along and participate and help!

NERC Earth System Science Spring School

The deadline for applications for the Earth System Science Spring School (ES4) 2010 is 11th January 2010. This School is open to all NERC-funded postgraduate students and early-career researchers (first post-doc or contract position) working at NERC-Centre-Funded institutions. The course will offer a broad foundation in Earth System Science and its applications.

Adverse weather conditions

Dear all,

due to adverse weather, our Head of Department is advising members of staff to leave the department this afternoon as and when is most convenient.

New water machine

New water machine- just use the removable nozzle as before (take care not to contaminate it). No need to switch it on/off as it does it itself after 1 hour. It does a few more fancy things…via the manual- when I can find it 😉
